We are registered with the Department of Education and offer from Grade R to Grade 7 and will in the near future also include the high school syllabus. The school offers main stream education according to the curriculum of the Western Cape Education Department, but specialises in remedial education. Remedial education entails an adapted main stream curriculum to address each and every learner’s specific problem. Teaching takes place one on one and is intensive and groups are kept small and manageable in a ratio of about one teacher to ten pupils. Being as labour intensive as it is and pupil numbers kept low (roughly 35 pupils), the need is ever present for financial assistance in meeting the operational costs of the school, i.e. Staff salaries, building rental, electricity, water, educational material, etc. Although the application for registration of the trust in terms of Sec 18 of the Income Tax Act has already been made (as a tax exempt enterprise) we are still awaiting the final approval and registration. We are in dire need of financial assistance as some learners and their families are experiencing financial difficulty in meeting their obligation towards the school. -2- We feel that the value added service that we deliver is worth retaining as we serve the broad community and especially the youth, irrespective of race, gender, religion or economic standing and even have learners on full and partial scholarships in the school. We therefore address this letter to you in an attempt to raise finances to continue with our operations and this letter also serves as an invitation to you and all that are interested to visit us to see what we do. If you should have any further enquiries and/or could supply us with any assistance, be it in money or in kind i.e. prizes as we do a number of fundraising efforts, it would be highly appreciated. Present examples of fundraisings are a morning tea we plan to hold in September, a fashion show, games day and raffles. We would like to thank you in anticipation for any assistance and support.
