The Obama administration has recently requested a package of $3.7 - TopicsExpress

The Obama administration has recently requested a package of $3.7 billion in emergency funding, including $1.8 billion that would go to the Department of Health and Human Services to provide care for unaccompanied [undocumented immigrant] children and refugees already here. This request has elicited great opposition and even outrage from the public and members of Congress. Of course, $1.8 billion is a huge amount of money, to be sure, almost enough to pay for a single B-2 bomber. If memory serves me, no such outrage accompanied the back page (if any) news reports of the B-2 programs cost of $45 billion (through 2004) for a total of 21 planes. But, then, we all understand how vital such whiz-bang killing machines are. Scores of thousands of helpless, desperate children really are no match for such massive largesse poured out ceaselessly by the shipload for the military-industrial complex.
