The Obama virus is making its rounds again (this is not a joke). When your computer gets infected a full screen pic of Obama appears on your screen blocking your taskbar and your desktop. Restarting in safemode doesnt work most of the time because when your computer comes up to a desktop, the Obama screen appears and the computer restarts into normal mode. The screen claims you have been tracked by the NSA and your computer is locked down and you have to click on a button and pay for the removal. The only way to remove it is to start up in safemode with command prompt, using DOS commands path down to either an installation of Malewarebytes (if you have it) or to your antivirus and run it from DOS. Cryptolocker Ransomware is worse. It locks down your computer, encrypts your files including any attached usb drives, and demands you click on a button and go to their website to pay for the key to unencrypt your files. Spread by email, Cryptolocker arrives as a link or as an attachment that must be clicked to activate. Anti-virus programs such as Microsoft Security Essentials are able to detect the malware before it is activated. Once activated, the easiest way to fix it is to restore your files from backup copies. Removing the virus does not unencrypt your files. Best way to protect yourself is not to open any emails that have attachments from unrecognized sources. Also update Malewarebytes/virus protection/etc. on a daily basis if you use your computer alot. This virus does not discriminate....if affects Macs as well.
