The Office of Senator Ricardo Lara is proud to announce a partnership with the Mexican Government’s External Relations Department, the Institute of Mexicans Abroad, and the City of Bell to bring an Arts Festival to Southeast Los Angeles. A coalition of seven artists from Mexico City and Southeast Los Angeles have agreed to paint a 1,900 square foot mural as a gift to the City of Bell during the two-day festival. The theme of the Festival is Mexican American Identity and will consist of a variety of workshops to educate youth and celebrate the love for art. Students will be able to register for various workshops (see attachments) and view the mural as it is being painted. The Festival will be held from Saturday September 20 to Sunday September 21. This is a great resource for young people seeking to learn art techniques from renowned Mexican artists. The workshops are free of charge but students must sign up by Friday September 19 in order to participate in some of the workshops.
