The Official Philip José Farmer Email Hello to everyone on the PJF Newsletter list. As seems to be the norm lately, this newsletter is pre-dating a website update by a few days. But, I have two important deadlines to tell you about, so here goes... First, a reminder that Meteor House is bringing Phils Wold Newton novel, The Evil in Pemberley House (cowritten with Win Scott Eckert), back into print in an affordable trade paperback edition! Patricia Wildman, the daughter of the world-renowned adventurer and crimefighter of the 1930s and ’40s, Dr. James Clarke “Doc” Wildman, is all alone in the world when she inherits the family estate in Derbyshire, England—in true Gothic tradition, old, dark, and supposedly haunted. But is the ghost real, or a clever sham perpetrated by others to scare her off? As Patricia contends with the questionable motives of her distant relatives, attempts to discern friend from foe, and battles to overcome mysterious attackers, she struggles to reconcile the supernatural with her rational scientific upbringing, while also attempting to work through unresolved feelings about her late parents. Set at Pemberley from Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and deeply ingrained in worlds of Sherlock Holmes and Lord Greystoke—as well as the bronze champion of justice, Doc Wildman—The Evil in Pemberley House is a darkly erotic novel with broad appeal to readers of pulp and popular literature, and fans of Philip José Farmer’s own celebrated Wold Newton Family. Some of you may have ordered the long-out-of-print hardcover from Subterranean Press five years ago, but I bet very few of you have the numbered edition, which only ran 200 copies. And if you dont have the numbered hardcover, that means you missed out on all the bonus goodies that came in the accompanying chapbook. Well, good news, the new Meteor House trade paperback includes these little-seen bonus materials, as well as a new foreword, a gorgeous new frontispiece illustration of Pat Wildman by Keith Howell, and of course the classic painted cover by Glen Orbik! Foreword to the 2014 Edition New Pat Wildman illustration A Pemberley House/Wold Newton Family graphic tree An Expanded Pemberley House/Wold Newton Family graphic tree, including SPOILERS from the novel Outline for the novel by Philip José Farmer A timeline of key events in the novel by Win Scott Eckert A “Creative Mythography” essay by Win Scott Eckert, about the research and writing of the novel and ensuring it remained in continuity with Farmer’s other Wold Newtonian works, such as Tarzan Alive, Doc Savage: His Apocalyptic Life, and The Adventure of the Peerless Peer Deadline #1 - If Meteor House receives your preorder by July 13th, theyll be able to get Win Scott Eckert to sign your copy of The Evil in Pemberley House at FarmerCon IX / PulpFest 2014 before it ships! Speaking of Pat Wildman, keep in mind her second adventure, Win Scott Eckerts The Scarlet Jaguar, which is available as a fast and easy download from Amazons Kindle store is Meteor Houses second ebook, following Christopher Paul Careys Exiles of Kho, and were sure there will be more to come. Second, everyone will be happy to hear Meteor Houses third Signed Limited Edition novella, Phileas Fogg and War of Shadows by Josh Reynolds, is at the printer! The Other Log of Phileas Fogg was only the beginning! It is 1889 and Phileas Fogg has settled into a life of quiet sequestration in the rural idyll of his family estate with his wife and children. The millennia-old conflict which once threatened to consume him is over and done. Or so he thought. But when an old foe disrupts his peaceful retirement, seeking his aid against an enemy which threatens them both, Fogg finds himself once more thrown into the white-hot crucible of war. Now, with his loved ones under threat of death, and accompanied by the unpredictable colonel who has been described as the second most dangerous man in London, Fogg must dare the dangers of the City of Light in order to uncover the deadly secrets hidden beneath the streets of Paris. And as the wonders of the Exposition Universelle unfold around him and the air quivers with the impossible reverberation of nine great clangings, Fogg must plunge into the shadowed depths of the Parisian catacombs on the trail of his phantom enemy... Assuming no printing delays, Josh will sign all copies of the book next weekend, and books being sent outside the US will be mailed to those who preordered. For those customers in the US, the books are being shipped here in bulk before they are sent out to customers (this kept your postage cost down considerably). However, if you are outside the US and have NOT yet ordered this exciting new Signed Limited Edition Novella, you need to be aware of this: Deadline #2 - Outside the US, be sure to preorder Phileas Fogg and War of Shadows by July 13th! After Josh signs the books, and preordered copies are mailed, ALL remaining inventory will be shipped to the US. This means if you live in the UK it now costs $6 for postage, in Europe it costs $7, and everywhere else (outside the US) it costs $9. But, once the books are in the US, the postage jumps to a minimum of $16 for any country other than the US or Canada. So dont delay, order your copy of the Signed Limited Edition trade paperback, or hardcover, or both, now and save yourself some money!
