The Oldham academy North were winners of the LACA (Lead Association for Catering in Education) LACA Self Delivered Secondary School Award (sponsored by Nationwide Retail Systems). back in early June following an in depth application process which included letters of support from the Principal and an NHS Nurse who works closely with our pupils. We went to the black tie Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole last Thursday (July 10th) where we received our award from Carrieanne Bishop, the LACA National Chair. Our category had many applicants from the length and bredth of the country but we were crowned national winners with various provisions that set us apart from the competition which included our free breakfast service, our successful adjustment to a new location and environment, our work with the school nurse addressing issues surrounding food and our pupils, tailor made menus for pupils and staff when requested and our professional approach to catering for the wider community. Prizes include a framed certificate, glass engraved trophy, 12 months free membership to LACA and a cheque for £500 which will be put to good use in further improving our service
