The Opening Press Conference was addressed by Panadda Disakul,Dep Permanent Secretary,in the PMs office,who has been actively involved in the planning of this Conference. UNISDRs Margareta Wahistrom was a walking/talking encyclopaedia on disasters/risks/technical evolvement/community involvement, in every part of Asia. She later briefed the media,after the important Ministerial Dialogues,and spoke particularly about the progress made by the big countries like India and China,in the area of disaster management. She mentioned that the Bangkok Declaration,at the end of this Conference, would be important and significant.
