The Opening Weekend of Scarborough Renaissance Festival 2014 is over, but the memories will long remain! Scottish Court--now at 11 a.m.--was wonderful. On Saturday, the first Court of the Season, I had the honor to sit beside Queen Margaret of Scotland & the Isles. This is something I always treasure, to be included with her wonderful Ladies of the Court. Then we met up with our jousting friends, the Knights of Noble Cause Productions, Bryan Beard, Felix Sanchez Madera, Brian Fertal and a new knight Sir Tristan. Gave big smooshy kisses to Brittany Beard and a little belly rub to the new baby on the way, Belle Ame. At last we saw, Jamie Lawless, who I didnt realize was squiring! Big hugs there, too :) Visted with Rae Clark at Majika Perfumery--if you havent been there--run dont walk. Also visited the bakery where they make the greatest creation ever--a cinamon roll which encases BACON!! We goofed on timing on Saturday and missed both Opening and Closing Gate, but that still didnt negate what a great day it had been! Sunday came the freezing gully washer. We were soaked. Normally I think we would have bagged it after Scottish Court, but then found but there was the Friends of Faire breakfast where we were sat with Queen Margaret and His Grace, the Duke of Inverness. There was even a visit by King Henry VIII himself! We decided that this might be the best day to go shopping. Long visits with shopkeepers like rhagdolls by Trese Mazey MacKay, and MaritaBeth Caruthers of Pendragon Costumes and Kyle Carruthers Of East Wind Games, and spent a very enjoyable few hours with them and got to make some new friends as well. No matter how soaked through and sore we were, it was a most excellent weekend. Lets do it all again in two weeks!!!
