The Oswego Junior Woman’s Club (OJWC) is serving up a slice of friendly competition, a slice of community, and a slice of fun at their event, A Slice of Charity, a fundraiser to benefit Rally Round the Robinsons. A Slice of Charity, the third annual Oswegoland’s Best Pizza Competition, will be held Saturday, February 7 from 11:30 to 2:00 at Traughber Junior High (570 Colchester Drive in Oswego). At the event, the public is invited to sample pizzas from a number of local pizza restaurants. A panel of local celebrity judges will choose a winner in three categories, and the public will vote for their favorite overall pizza for the People’s Choice Award. Last year’s winners included Genoa Pizza (Best Pepperoni and Best Sausage) and Tony Weeds (Best Specialty and People’s Choice Award). Past winners also have included Firehouse Pizza & Pub, Pizza Cucina, Shef Brothers Pizza and Gario’s Pizza Villa. Tickets for A Slice of Charity are $5 in advance and $6 at the door. Proceeds from the event will benefit Rally Round the Robinsons, a community fund for the Robinson family. Thirteen-year-old Connor Robinson is currently battling leukemia and attends Traughber Junior High. Connor is the third member of the Robinson family to be stricken by cancer. OJWC is currently seeking local pizza restaurants to participate in the event. In addition, local companies are needed to sponsor the event. For more information, interested businesses may contact OJWC President Denise Ryan at 815-272-5989 or OswegoJuniors@yahoo.
