The Outer Darkness (found this article online this morning - very very important message as time is short. ) Jesus spoke more about hell than He ever did heaven. Why? He passionately desired that no one go there. We do know that God’s wish is that no one goes to eternal judgment (1 Tim 2:4; 2 Pet 3:9). Listen to these warnings Jesus gives about being sent into the outer darkness: Matthew 22:13: “Bind him hand and foot and cast him into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 8:12: The sons of the kingdom will be thrown into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Matthew 25:30: “And cast the worthless servant into the outer darkness. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” Notice the outer darkness goes with the gnashing of teeth. This is a place of judgment that cannot be crossed back over from. There will be eternal weeping or regret…regret from hearing the gospel and knowing about the grace of God yet rejecting Him time and time again. This regret will be so intense that people will be grinding (or gnashing) their teeth for all time. Some say, “Well, not today…maybe tomorrow” which may be what Jesus meant when He told this parable... Matt 24:48-51: But if that evil servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunkards, the master of that servant will come on a day when he is not looking for him and at an hour that he is not aware of, and will cut him in two and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. This is why time and time again Jesus warned that “you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect” (Matt 24:44).
