The PAWS family has been very sad this week, as we mourn the loss of PAWS Demonstration Dog, Krickit on Tuesday. Krickit was more than your average dog, as she traveled thousands of miles with PAWS Community Outreach Manager Deb Davis, delivering hundreds of educational presentations about Assistance Dogs. Krickit was a fixture in the PAWS offices and at many Service Club events around the country. Deb and her family thank you all for your love and support during this difficult time and invite you to share your memories of Krickit with us below ~ Deb has shared this with us~ RIP Krickit Davis and thank you for your commitment to Assistance Dog education~ Walking our path of life ~ together (By Deb Davis) My life was enriched on an October day eight years ago. A fellow employee came walking around a corner in the hallway with a beautiful Golden Retriever walking beside her. Now, dogs walking down the hallway are commonplace at PAWS…this one, however, made me stop in my tracks. “WHO is THAT?” I asked. “She’s beautiful!” “This is Krickit,” she answered. “She has a thyroid imbalance so she’s looking for a home. She’s really smart ~ she would make a great Demo Dog for you!” And the rest, as they say, was history… Krickit and I traveled the country together for 8 years, conducting demonstrations about Assistance Dogs. From the halls of Congress, to the hallways of PAWS, we walked together. The PAWS Lady (as I became known), and her faithful sidekick. Where one walked, the other walked beside. Until last night… Krickit took a walk of her own when she crossed the Rainbow Bridge, and continued on to Heaven. My heart is broken and the sadness is overwhelming. She was such an amazing dog ~ but she was more than that to me…she was a family member, a friend, a confidante, a travel companion, an incredible ambassador and a constant presence in my life. And now, she’s not here. When will I stop looking for her? When will I stop hearing her breathe? When will I stop reaching out to pet her? Hopefully, never…I want to always look for her in my memories, hear her in my dreams and reach out to pet her soft face in pictures, forever. Because that’s how long she’ll be in my heart ~ Thank you, my dear Krickit, for your love and dedication…and for always walking beside me, no matter where our path led. God Speed my beautiful girl!
