The PBA makes its return from a short break with four teams pinning their hopes on some of the tallest reinforcements in the Commissioner’s Cup that tips off Tuesday at Mall of Asia Arena. The Kia Sorento hope to start this conference on a winning note as they take on the GlobalPort Batang Pier at 4:15 p.m. while crowd-favorite Barangay Ginebra San Miguel test a returning coach and a comebacking import in their tiff against the Meralco Bolts at 7 p.m. Fans can watch the games either live on TV5 or at the venue as tickets at the general admission section are free of charge. After losing all but one game in the Philippine Cup, Kia is looking forward to make its presence felt this time around with 7’3” import Peter John Ramos, a veteran of the Puerto Rico national team. CJ Leslie, a 6’9” forward who last played in Korea, is bolstering GlobalPort after its initial import choice Rod Benson failed to pass the height limit. Guard Denok Miranda is also seeing his debut in a Batang Pier uniform after being traded for Sol Mercado who is now with Barako Bull. Meanwhile, Ginebra is aiming to have a good start with comebacking coach Ato Agustin and import Michael Dunigan boosting the Gin Kings. Agustin had already coached Ginebra before taking over the squad anew, replacing Jeffrey Cariaso following his failure to get past the Philippine Cup quarterfinals. Dunigan played for the now-defunct Air21 Express last year where he posted numbers. But his chemistry with Ginebra twin towers Greg Slaughter and Japeth Aguilar in the frontline remains to be seen. Meralco is parading NBA D-League veteran 6’8” Josh Davis who was waived by the San Antonio Spurs ahead of the NBA season.
