The Papio-Missouri River Natural Resources District has been a huge supporter and partner of the Omaha Bee Club this year. They have invited us to suggest a list of flowing plants that also prevent erosion that they can mix in with their normal planting in select locations in the near future, which we were able to provide them with a list of 25 different flowers with the help of a UNL Extension educator. How cool is that? The Papio-Missouri NRD is going to plant to make their lands bee and other pollinator friendly. The Papio-Missouri NRD has also helped the Omaha Bee Club to bring in some of our national speakers to the Bee Fest-Great Plains Beekeepers Workshop this coming Saturday to educate local beekeepers and help us be more successful beekeepers. More awesome. There may even be an opportunity to place bee hives of locally rescued bees on restricted access areas on the various land areas around the Omaha/metro area. This helps the Omaha Bee Club have a place to relocate honey bees that would otherwise have been exterminated and they can pollinate the new planted flowers on their lands. This is a relationship the Omaha Bee Club is fortunate to bee a part of and we are excited to continue working with the Papio-Missouri NRD into the future. You folks are the bees knees.
