The Paris mass murderers are evil and must be condemned. However, we should all reflect on 3 key points: 1) Journalists are paid to report a story, not to tell their audience how they feel about the story. We want more objective analysis, and less subjective opinions. CBC took a sound position on this news based on this basic principle. 2) According to HL Menckens good journalism, to be a truly satire: it should afflict the comfortable and comfort the afflicted. Who is this French satire afflicting and comforting? The right to free speech comes with serious responsibilities. 3) In the history of Islam (1400+ yrs), 1.5+ billion people avoided creating any images of the Prophet. It is not about freedom of speech only, it is also about respecting the core tenet of a major religion.
