The Patrol Division is commanded by Captain Fred Shelton and has 40 officers, one civilian clerical member and 2 dogs trained in narcotics detection and tracking. Captain Shelton began as an Auxiliary Police Officer in 1983 with the Columbus Police Department. He was hired the same year as a full time police officer. With 28 years experience Shelton was promoted to Captain in 2001. Captain Sheltons other duties include Senior Police Chaplain; Volunteer Chaplain for The Baptist Memorial Hospital; Member of the Bio-ethics Advisory Committee (Community Representative); CPR Instructor for Baptist Memorial Hospital / Golden Triangle; President of the Professional Link Toastmaster Club; Board member of Salvation Army and Bethany Christian Services. Also Appointed as an Honorary Commander to the 14th Security Forces Squadron 2011.................
