The Peace Boat, operated by GPPACs Regional Secretariat for Northeast Asia of the same name, visited Montenegro last weekend as part of its current 3-month voyage to promote grassroots exchange, peace education and conflict prevention. On board the Peaceboat, in addition to its 900 passengers, were delegations of atomic bomb survivors from Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and young peacebuilders from Japan, Israel and Palestine. The visit was coordinated with the GPPAC Western Balkans Secretariat, Nansen Dialogue Network, which has been working with Peaceboat for many years through GPPAC. Peace Boats 83rd Global Voyage departed from Japan on March 13, and has visited ports including Singapore, Sri Lanka, Jordan and Greece. In Kotor, Montenegro, a series of study, cultural exchange programmes and sightseeing programmes took place, on issues including environmental protection and womens rights.
