The Peace encounter between Jews and Muslims in Amsterdam has drawn so many visitors last Tuesday evening, they barely fit in the hall of the library. Several hundred people gathered to reflect on the terrorist attacks in Paris. Apparently we are meeting a need, said Lody van der Kamp who is the initiator of the circle of friendship Salaam-Shalom Mayor Eberhard van der Laan of Amsterdam led a speech and a minutes silence in which the visitors were flocking peace signs with their fingers. ,, Not a day goes by that we think of Paris, said Van der Laan.,, The terrorist acts make us realize how vulnerable our open society is. Van der Laan: We are fighting, but use the word as supreme weapon However we are divided, even though we are all citizens of Amsterdam.. We Should Be side by side! The mayor showed deep respect for the organization and visitors who have come together to engage in dialogue. To build bridges, said Van der Laan. We grieve along with the relatives of the Paris attack. Together we are shocked and angry.
