The Pearson Campaign continues to spread blatant lies - they should apologize. Sen. Rapert serves on the Education Committee, helped fund $7,000,000 in new revenue to fund ACT 35 to reward top performing schools in Arkansas including $358,000 directly to 10 Conway schools m.thecabin.net/news/local/2014-05-23/conway-schools-cash#gsc.tab=0. When teachers were faced with huge increases in premiums for their health insurance, it was Sen. Rapert who called on Gov. Beebe for a special session and was successful in getting $43,000,000 in new funding to fix the problem and begin a task force to find long term solutions. youtu.be/bWU77ieF-Os Sen. Rapert also works hard for higher education and UCA. Pres. Tom Courtway of UCA spoke at Conway Rotary Club recently and advised them that since 2005 UCA had received $9,000,000 in capital improvement funding and $4,700,000 came just last year with the help of Sen. Jason Rapert. Sen. Rapert directed $700,000 from his GIF fund allocation, he was able to get $3,000,000 allocated from GIF before it was distributed amongst the various branches and he personally asked Gov. Beebes office to release $2,000,000 more to UCA and obtained $1,000,000 more. When the Governors Distinguished Scholarship Funding came up short, Sen. Rapert personally got Shane Broadway, Director of Higher Education, Gov. Mike Beebe and Senate leaders together and brokered agreement to get the funding replaced so new college students who had earned the scholarship would get their money. Sen. Rapert also was able to direct $600,000 in GIF funding to AETN. He directed $100,000 out of his GIF fund allocation and asked Gov. Beebe to release another $1,000,000 to AETN - he was successful in getting $500,000 more. Something that had not been done in many years according to AETN Director Allen Weatherly. The Pearson campaign can spread lies all they want, but Sen. Raperts record is clear. He supports education in his district and in Arkansas. It is too bad the Pearson campaign uses the tactics of Obama, Reid and Pelosi to attack the stellar record of Sen. Rapert.
