The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Lagos Island chapter has advised former Minister of State for Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro to withdraw from the governorship race in order to avoid suffering monumental defeat. Addressing a press conference on Sunday at the Lugard home of its prime leader, Olabode George, the leader of the group, Kamal Giwa said the result of Saturday’s primaries in Lagos Island has clearly shown that Obanikoro has lost political relevance in the area. Giwa said the two candidates Obanikoro sponsored for Lagos Island Constituency 1 and 2 in the primaries lost woefully to those sponsored by another governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje. “In Lagos Island we have been able to show Obanikoro that he has no place in the gubernatorial race. We are advising him to withdraw from the race in his best interest so as not to suffer monumental defeat in the forthcoming primaries. “The outcome of the primaries has clearly shown that Agbaje is the man to beat in the election. The moneybags have no place in Lagos island politics.
