The Peoples National Movement (PNM) was forced to cancel the annual Divali celebrations which was carded to take place at Constantine Park, Tunapuna today (October 18th). Severe weather significantly damaged the infrastructure. Organizers and safety personnel of the event took the decision to cancel the programme to ensure the safety and well being of the performers, contestants and thousands of patrons that were expected to attend the celebrations. According to officials of the ODPM the bad weather resulted in severe flooding in the Tunapuna and Tacarigua districts which also left the park in a deplorable and dangerous condition. In the circumstances, the PNM wishes to sincerely apologise for any inconvenience to the public especially our members and supporters who traveled very long distance to attend the celebrations.
