The Personality of the Soul There are times, on earth, when the soul, too, needs to rest, and dream, and bathe in the refreshing streams of the deep, mysterious energy that creates, recreates, and upholds life and the world. After such cleansing and renewal, it readies itself again for another dive into the ocean of life and becoming. It reattempts or completes all that it had set out to accomplish after it came to earth. The cleansing is the doing away with whatever in the past proved to be a hurdle and a burden upon its desire to realize its predetermined tasks. These periods of soul-rest can occur several times in life. With each rest period the soul is that much stronger. It grows as a child grows that spontaneously knows what and when to do what it needs to. Moreover, of all the parts of our being, the soul is the most spontaneous, most energized, most conscious. As it grows in consciousness, it develops a body of its own, quite separate from the body as we know it. In fact, the soul-body, which also develops a personality of its own, can separate itself from our ‘earth-bodies’ if it so wills, and in the case of highly conscious and realized people, it does when it deems its ‘earth-body’ to be no longer necessary. They say, too, that there comes a point when the soul-body and its personality arrive eventually at a given destination in soul-development and self-awareness where the repeated cycles of birth, life and death are done away with. This is immortality, this is freedom, achieved here on earth and through the experience of life. This is not ego, this is soul. Ego was always only its tool, as was the body. This is also why realized people do not acknowledge death as a fact, but merely as a concept of the mind. In short, mind, life and body are simply tools, instruments for the growth of the soul.
