The Philadelphia Story: Part 2 Out and about in Philadelphia, we visit the Philadelphia Museum of Art,* the Barnes Foundation for more art and the Rodin Museum for even more art. (* -- If youre a Philistine like me, or know any, youll recognize the Philadelphia Museum of Art because its where the scene of Sylvester Stallone running up the steps and pumping his fists in the air triumphantly for the movie Rocky was filmed.) All of these are conveniently located along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, which were walking along when we are suddenly paralleled by Phillys Polish Pride Parade. I could show you lots of pics of lots of art, but Im pretty sure youd end up feeling just as tired as we were with all that museum trudging. (If theres anything in the world harder the a museum floor, I, thankfully, have not yet found it.) Instead, here are some scenes from the parade: Pic 1: I think the vets in front may be getting a little nervous about the next-generation vets behind them. Pic 2: Lynne cant resist a parade. Actually, she almost always can but it was a nice sunny day and how many times in your life are you walking along the Benjamin Franklin Pkwy in Philly when a parade shows up? How could she say no? Pic 3: I love this one. It sums up an aspect of our relationship wonderfully: Lynne steps out and joins the parade and shes made Honorary Daughter of Poland for the Day. If I did that, it would take the cops 0.456 of a second to have me down on the ground, tasered, and in the back of a paddy wagon on my way to getting a close-up, hands-on, personal look at Philadelphias justice system, and right now Id be writing about what it feels like to have an angry 245-pound cop do the atomic drop into the small of your back when youre face down on the pavement being cuffed.
