The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE - Sorsogon Chapter) recently inducted its new set of officers and members of the board of directors, wherein Sorsogon Provincial Administrator Robert Lee Rodrigueza was one of the speakers. In his statement, P.A. Rodrigueza stressed on a popular saying among engineers: “we cannot have civilization without Civil Engineering.” Relating to this, the Provincial Administrator also gave emphasis to the inevitability of creating tourism infrastructure to address the need and requirements of a tourism economy particularly roads, bridges and hotels – all designed to make travel safe, comfortable and pleasant. “The Provincial Government aims to elevate Sorsogon’s tourism standard and eventually convert it as livelihood opportunities for our constituents,” Rodrigueza elucidated. Concluding these, he reminded the engineers of Aristotle’s famous words, “we are what we repeatedly do; excellence then is not an act, but a habit.”
