The Phillipino Community in the Cook Islands will be holding a Round Rarotonga Runathon this Saturday the 16th of November at 7am starting from the Punanga Nui Market. All proceeds will go towards the victims in the Phillipines of the recent typhoon Haiyan which destroyed many provinces in the Phillipines, leaving thousands dead, without shelter, food and water. Julian Perla president of the Phillipino Community here in Rarotonga tells Radio Cook Islands that there are a few Filipino workers here that have family living in the affected areas and their houses were damaged by the storm, “Until now it is hard to contact our families due to power failure and cut off communications in several provinces”, We will continue to pray for the victims and their families and all those places affected by the monster typhoon”, he says. Any donation towards the Phillipino Community to help assist the victims in the Phillipines will be greatly appreciated.
