The Pickens County Challenge Please Share As a school board - TopicsExpress

The Pickens County Challenge Please Share As a school board member, I receive a LOT of feedback and comments from folks on a variety of issues! Just last week, someone called and complained to me about the pot holes on Hwy 93! (After 15 minutes of listening, unable to stop the callers rant, I finally succumbed and assured the lady Id see what I could do- so if you see me shoveling rocks in pot holes on Hwy 93 just as you enter the City limits of Liberty, stop and give me some help!) On a serious note... occasionally, I hear from someone that is making a difference in our community. I want to call everyones attention to a group of folks at EZ Cash Loans in Easley. Pamela Aiken and Tony Allison reached out to me and asked how they could help provide school supplies for those that are less fortunate in our community. This time of year can be stressful for parents having to purchase school supplies and get children ready for a new school year. Many children in our community simply go without. Some of the statistics in our community are simply abysmal. Both Pamela and Tony wanted to make a difference...they called a couple of their local schools and found out what they needed- shortly after, they went to work! These photos are just a fraction of what they collected! They even have customers donating to the cause! They have even convinced Dollar General to give a 20% off coupon to every school teacher in Pickens County for the purchase of supplies! According to Pamela, this was not only easy, but a lot of fun! They have issued a challenge to other businesses in Pickens County (theyve called it The Pickens County Challenge). They are asking other businesses to provide donations to their area schools. You can simply contact your local school and find out what their needs are with regard to supplies for children. Tomorrow morning, I plan to meet with my staff and challenge them to do this! If your business is willing to participate in the Pickens County Challenge respond to this message... it would be awesome to see our community step up and respond to this! You can simply drop the donations off at your local school, or you can drop them off to the following locations: -EZ Cash Loans 6314 Calhoun Mem Hwy in Easley (855-0900) OR -Tri-County Technical College, Easley Campus 1774 Powdersville Road, Easley 220-8888) Many thanks to Pamela and Tony for this great idea!
