The Pike Central High School girls basketball team dropped a 77-45 loss to visiting Princeton on Thursday, Jan. 23. Princeton sophomore Jackie Young scored a game-high 36 points and led both teams in rebounds (9), assists (6) and steals (5) as the Lady Tigers improved to 16-0. Senior Emily Howes led the Lady Chargers (3-14) with 12 points while freshman Jolene Whitehead added 10 points. Howes and junior Lindsey Nixon both had four rebounds while sophomore Alyx Abbott dealt out four assists. In the junior varsity game, sophomore Ashley Chestnut and freshman Easton Chandler netted 16 and 10 points, respectively, to lead Princeton to a 57-18 win over Pike Central. Sophomore Cheyanna Padgett paced the Lady Chargers with eight points. Pike Central will host Barr-Reeve on Saturday, Jan. 25, with the junior varsity game tipping off at 1 p.m., and the varsity game following at 2:30 p.m.
