The Pilgrimage Day 5 Dont forget to hit the HD button :-) We stayed the night in Mahwah, New Jersey, and then Sunday morning we went off to the Journey Within Church. Ministers Janet Nohavec, Brian Robertson, Simon James and Janet Parker conducted the twinning service between The Journey Within Spiritualist Church and the Open Door Spiritualist Sanctuary. The church was packed to capacity and extra chairs were brought it so everyone could join in the celebration. People had come from nearby and far afield; many thanks to Maple Hung and her family for coming all the way from Ottawa to be with us. We started with the song of Where I Sit Is Holy, which is enjoyed in both churches. Janet Nohavec and Brian Robertson gave the address, Janet Parker chaired, and Simon James provided the demonstration of mediumship. Christine Upright beautifully sang a solo of “Abide with Me”. Terri Woolgar and Ana Reluzco shared the Seven Principles that are used in the Open Door and The Journey Within respectively. The Healing Teams of both churches healed in unity giving service of Healing Mediumship. In celebration of our two Houses of the Spirit coming together we exchanged gifts: The Journey Within church was presented with: a First Nations spoon carved with the symbol of the eagle, framed historical letters relating to the Journey Within and a framed Andrew Jackson Davis portrait from the Open Door. The Open Door was presented with: a schoolhouse table that was made from an original door from the Fox schoolhouse and an original ‘Beyond the Valley’, the second book in the biography of Andrew Jackson Davis. Open Door pins and mementoes were then given to the members of the Journey Within. In return an Andrew Jackson Davis notebook was given to the congregants of the Open Door. Following the twinning service, the community of The Journey Within put on a lovely luncheon in their large downstairs hall. There was a great coming together of people from both the Open Door and The Journey Within, with much talk, laughter and new connections made. This was an historic day for the two Spiritualist communities who are now joined together and united in the religion of Spiritualism – east and west, American and Canadian – united one for all and all for one. May our union help to forge bonds with others around the world. A wonderful and very special day that joined two Spiritualist families together. Our grateful thanks go to the community of The Journey Within and all the volunteers that made it such a memory of the heart. A special thank you to Rev. Janet Nohavec, Patty Moran, Ana Ruluzco, Randi Silber, Thomas Regenauer, and Karen Rugar. Jimmy, thank you so much for the magnificent Fox table. Minister Janet Parker our gratitude for your service and friendship.
