The Pleasure of the Lord Ezekiel 33:11 We must carefully - TopicsExpress

The Pleasure of the Lord Ezekiel 33:11 We must carefully note a difference between the will of the Lord and the pleasure of the Lord, God may permit a thing and yet take no pleasure therein. We ought, therefore, to be exceedingly interested in that which our Lord takes pleasure, and if He has no pleasure in a thing, neither should His people. For the next few days, we will consider several areas where the pleasure of the Lord is revealed. Make no mistake-the wicked will die. Adam clearly heard Gods words in the garden of Eden: In the day that thou eatest thereof (the tree of the knowledge of good and evil), thou shalt surely die (Gen.2:17). The Scriptures are replete with continued references to this basic biblical truth: Death passed upon all men (Rom.5:12); it is appointed unto men once to die (Heb.9:27); the soul that sinneth, it shall die (18:4); the wages of sin is death (Rom.6:23); sin hath reigned unto death (Rom.5:21). Yet, while the wicked will indeed die, it is just as certain from todays text that God has no pleasure in their death. The Lord is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Pet.3:9). Paul wrote to Timothy about God our Savior; Who will have all men to be saved (1 Tim.2:3-4). Why, then, will they die? They die because they prefer the pleasures of sin (Heb.11:25) and thus incur its wages; death, eternal separation for God in the lake of fire (Rev.20:15). No sinner can ever claim that Gods just punishment of sin arises from any hatred in Him, for God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son (Jn.3:16). The Lord finds no delight in the sinners doom; He waits to save all who come to Him by faith.
