The Poem: Common Core, Uncommon Conformity A poem that calls for a generational rethinking of our system of education. Nationalized Education and top down educational mandates dont work because teaching and learning cannot be de-personalized. Education is a human system that lives and breathes on innovation, creativity and curiosity. The mechanical system of nationalized education misses the true purpose of eduction: learning. It misdirects money and resources toward rigorous standards and standardized tests in order to raise international scores. Education always works best when run closer to home by teachers, parents and local communities. Common Core is a step in the wrong direction.
