The Police bears are visiting with Grandpa bear this morning and discussing the new Bring Our Loved Ones home program at the Gates Police Department. The Gates Police have found several disabled individuals recently who became lost and were not able to identify themselves or their residence. So that we can better serve these individuals we welcome you to the Bring Our Loved Ones Home (B.O.L.O.H.) community partnership. Disorientation and difficulty with communication may be the result of a disability such as Autism or Alzheimer’s disease or some other condition. By providing us with a description and photo(optional) this voluntary registry provides first responders with vital information when it is needed. B.O.L.O.H. is a tool for lessening the time it takes for first responders to identify and return vulnerable citizens safely to their care givers and loved ones. As a result, the fear and exposure to risk that can accompany being lost is limited. Who May Participate: The Gates Police Department welcomes residents of the Town of Gates to participate, as well as people who work or receive services in our community. Voluntary and Confidential: Participation in the B.O.L.O.H. Partnership is entirely voluntary and can be ended at any time. Participation provides no guarantees regarding the outcome of situations when a vulnerable person requires assistance. However, B.O.L.O.H. provides first responders with another tool they can use when trying to identify these vulnerable individuals. To Register contact Gates Police Victim Advocate Ellen Guerdat at 429-8274 or [email protected] or download the form from the Town of Gates Website: townofgates.org/. Click on Police then Community Services and the form to fill out will be there.
