The Pope and Animals and God and Heaven I am not saying that you ought to believe in souls (so atheists: relax and spare us all). I am saying that *if* you believe that humans have souls, it bewilders me as to how you could think that nonhumans do not have souls. I am not saying that you ought to believe in the existence of God (so atheists: again, relax). I am saying that *if* you believe in God, and the God you believe in is a God of love and justice, it bewilders me as to how you could think that such a God could put a cosmic stamp of approval on the suffering and death of vulnerable others so that you can satisfy your trivial interests in palate pleasure or fashion or whatever other transparently frivolous interests are served by animal exploitation. Such conduct is wholly inconsistent with love and justice. >>Dogs in Heaven?
