The Post Reports Chellah Was Nearly Clobbered by PF Cadres According to an article published by George Chellah’s former employers – The Post – some ruling Patriotic Front cadres nearly clobbered President Michael Sata’s press aide. The innuendo in the article authored by Chellah’s current best friend suggests former Defence minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba (GBM) assigned the cadres to deal with the now former State House official. The article narrates that PF cadres yesterday mobilised themselves to beat up Chellah at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport but the official was whisked Chellah away to safety in a private vehicle by State House security. Chellah is so much loathed within the PF and outside for the manner he carried the duties of his office. Many accuse him of distancing the late head of State from the part and playing a role in advancing the strength of the cartel. Further disdain for Chellah is held through is conduct which critics have charged was “childish”, “unprofessional” and full of himself instead of serving the image of President Sata. Instead of taking a proactive role in explaining President Sata’s vision, Chellah engaged in vicious reactive battles including with his colleagues and elders such as opposition leaders Nevers Mumba, Hakainde Hichilema, Nason Msoni and rights activist Brebnar Changala. The Post reports that as Chellah alighted from the plane, some cadres clad in T-shirts labelled “Special Courtesy by GBM” were seen pointing and scheming to attack him. One cadre wearing a PF chitenge was heard saying: “Lelo kalechimona ka Chellah, ba boss balikatumpike sana, ekalengele ba boss ukufuma pali bu minister. Kaleponokwa lelo (Today, this boy Chellah will see. His boss [Sata] made him stupid, he even made [our] boss [GBM] to resign as minister. Today he will be beaten.” Another cadre in the group was overheard questioning Chellah’s involvement with the first family after the death of president Sata. “Boss wakwe naaya, nomba kaleselela kumusungu, kamoneni. (His boss is dead. Now he is attaching himself to the white man, look at him,” the cadre said pointing at Chellah from a distance. But as soon as Chellah disembarked from the plane, two plain-clothed security personnel whisked him away. According to the article, Chellah was visibly surprised Chellah as he was separated from the presidential convoy and was later seen at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre where president Sata’s body was taken to lie in state. The author of the article – who is a few a phone call away from the subject – claims have failed to get a comment from Chellah when he was seeing his facial expression both at the airport and Mulungushi International Conference Centre. zambiareports/2014/11/02/post-reports-chellah-nearly-clobbered-pf-cadres/
