The Premier of Kwa Zulu-Natal, Mr Senzo Mchunu officially welcomed the Southern African Development Community, (SADC) The Premier of Kwa Zulu-Natal, Mr Senzo Mchunu officially welcomed the Southern African Development Community, (SADC) which sat for the first time at Umhlanga Ridge in Durban. This is the biannual meeting of the SADC Development Finance Institutions Network, which comprises the Chief Executives’ Forum and SADC Sub-Committee on Development Finance. The theme for the day will focus on “Mobilization of Resources for Development – Lesson and Challenges” for the whole of the Region. This meeting will further discuss developments and performance of the Network, in particular the programme and activities of its Secretariat, the Development Finance Resource Centre, within the framework and strategic intent of the SADC Finance and Investment Protocol, and other topical issues of interest and concern to the DFIs. The SADC will also focus on key challenges and opportunities for resource mobilization for development banks in which senior executives share their experiences, and propose strategies for more effective resource mobilization to enhance the pool of investible resources for critical socio-economic development projects in the region. This discussion will be led by Mr Mohan Vivekanandan, Group Executive of Strategy, representing, the Chief Executive of Development Bank of Southern Africa, Mr Patrick Dlamini. Other panelists will include representatives from the following countries: Swaziland, Angola, Botswana, Namibia, and Zimbabwe.
