The Prescott Courier’s original coverage of Friday’s protest - TopicsExpress

The Prescott Courier’s original coverage of Friday’s protest at Courthouse Square framed it as “protest,” which as you would expect inflamed a lot of people to comment that “protest wasn’t welcome.” In yesterday’s follow-up coverage (see link below), the comments have been more conciliatory seeing as how the protest was completely peaceful and inspired discussion and debate on the street. However, as conservative as this Cow Town is, the comments are largely anti-protest “this-is-not-an-issue” in nature. I seem to be one of only a handful of folks who are holding up the “pro-protest” “pro-debate” point of view, but I’m getting hammered there. Would appreciate if friends, whether liberal or conservative, could read the comments and make their own comments. I’m not saying that both sides need to be equally presented, I’m saying that it probably shouldn’t be as one-sided as it looks right now. I’m also committed to scheduling a followup discussion this Friday, December 12th at 1pm on Courthouse Square. I have a format in mind which should prevent it from degrading into a shouting match as was the case last Friday, to keep the discussion productive and civil (think “Poetry Slam / Open Mic” format). It should be interesting, and I plan to post HQ videos with decent microphones and audio to help document what transpired. Conservative, liberal, and independent views are equally welcomed.
