The President Nigerians want! Nigerians want a President who is - TopicsExpress

The President Nigerians want! Nigerians want a President who is as humane, accommodating, listening and very cool headed as President Goodluck Jonathan. But with the firmness, decisiveness and unwavering of a General Mohamadu Buhari. So how do we settle this problem? Can President Jonathan learn to be a little more firm, putting his feet down on what he believes is good for the country irrespective of whose Ox is gored and still retain his humaneness and the listening leader he is? And is it possible for General Buhari to smile more often, be a little compromising on issues, the patience to listen more like President Jonathan? After the elections, if President Jonathan wins, he will be a very different man. This campaigns has taught him so much.He will be very different, and he will appreciate the importance of a leader being able to hire and fire. He will be even more resolute and carry a birch. He will go all out against Boko Haram, and some generals will kiss the dust. And anybody on his way will see red. It will not be business unusual as many of his present cabinet will be shown the door. He will see Nigeria as it is, and also appreciate the APC for pushing him this hard. But above all, he will realise though the hard way, that being a good man is not enough to become a great leader. He will understand how much Nigeria has changed. He is still a young man and he wont like to be remembered for all the wrong things. The worst thing that will happen to anyone who has tasted power before is to be ignored: he can ask Peter Odilli. He will be stronger! But if Buhari wins this election, he will come to appreciate the plurality of Nigeria more, there will be no trace of arrogance in him again. He will become more of a team player, and have nothing to do with religion, he may likely ban the existence of a Mosque or Chapel in Aso Rock. Moreover, he will be a changed man, still strong willed and sturborn, but he will go the extra mile to prove the point he has been trying to prove since 2003. He will be under so much pressure to deliver. Nigerians know what they want even though they allow issues like religion, ethnicity and sectionalism to come in between. But above all, we should be grateful to those who came together to form the APC. The presence of a strong opposition will go a long way in strengthening this democracy. APC is a welcome development and they should understand that if they fail to win this year, the lessons from the experience will be very handy in 2019, instead of breaking up. If they remain as one party, one day in no distant future,Nigerians will start voting for the candidate of their choice irrespective of ethnicity or religion. This is because in the next 8 years, they will be disappointed either at federal or state depending on what they expect, then they will see clearer. But for me, whosoever gets to Aso Rock, and which Party controls the National Assembly, I will curse any leader that fails to start the process of power and economic devolution of this country. We should practice this federal system of government, the way it was designed to run. By Kelechi Deca.
