The Prince of Peace! “For it pleased the Father that in him - TopicsExpress

The Prince of Peace! “For it pleased the Father that in him should all fulness dwell; And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.” Colossians 1:19-20 Isaiah speaks of Christ who would come unto us a child born and a son would be given with the government upon his shoulders with a wonderful name, “Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace” (Isaiah 9:6). When we look about in the world it seems that peace is the one thing that everyone strives for but cannot grasp. Jeremiah 8:15, “We looked for peace, but no good came; and for a time of health, and behold trouble!” The peace we are looking by nature is not true peace because of our selfish nature, trying to negotiate what we think this peace should look like! How foolish we are! God’s word tells us, “There is no peace, saith my God, to the wicked” (Isaiah 57:21). Who are the wicked? All of us by nature! Psalm 14:2-3 “The LORD looked down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: there is none that doeth good, no, not one.” Before the fall in Paradise, Adam and Eve had perfect peace, they were holy and without sin being in perfect harmony with God, but they and we through them lost our peace which can never be rectified from our side. This is a hard lesson to learn, and can only be learned by the operation of the Holy Spirit in our soul. To be brought from our self made darkness into the glorious light of a Holy God humbles all our self reliance showing us our need of a Mediator, (the Prince of Peace) but not knowing how or where to find such a One! Where can I find such a One? Isaiah 26:12, “LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.” Who can this be? Zechariah 13:7a, “Awake, O sword, against my shepherd, and against the man that is my fellow.” How can there be peace when the sword is against the Shepherd? This is the wonder “the Prince of Peace” became sin for His people bringing back a more perfect peace than was with Adam (before he sinned) by paying the price of their guilt, says. John 10:11, “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” And 2 Corinthians 5:21, “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” Without this righteousness there can be no peace ‘for there is no peace for the wicked’ but in Him (Jesus) there is everlasting peace for He is the “Prince of Peace” imputing the peace He earned on the Cross of Calvary for His people making them perfect and presenting them unto His Father washed in His blood. Colossians 1:21-22, “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:” Is this “Prince of Peace” your peace?
