The Productivity Commission released the Overcoming Indigenous Disadvantage (OID) report today, which examines the nationally set indicators of the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Some is good, some is bad, and all in all theres a long way to go. For example, the gap in life expectancy between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians has narrowed, but the suicide rate among Indigenous people between 2008 and 2012 was almost double that of the non-Indigenous population.
