The Prophet(SAW)was also told to seek forgiveness for the sins of his followers,as an example to his followers to seek forgivenss for their sins.In other religions such as catholiscism among Christians,the followers are told to confess their sin to proest who are supposed to be able to ask Gods forgiveness for them Mostother Christians direct their prayers for forgivenessof Jesus whom they believe died on the cross to expiate for the sins of all mankind.Jews whom on the other hand,consider themselves the chosen children of God who will inherit paradise no matter what they do;hence,there is no need for seeking forgiveness for their sins from Allah alone.for none can forgive them besides Him.the Prophet Muhammad(SAW)thaugth Abu Bakr the following Duaa,to be said at the end of his Salah just before Tasleem,Allahumma inne dhalamtu nafsee dhulman Katheera,OAllah,verily I have really wronged myself a lot Wa la yaghfirh-dhunooba illa anta (and none can forgive sins except YOU Faghfir Lee maghfiratam min indika warhamnee So forgive me with Your forgiveness and have mercy on me Innaka antal-Ghafoorur-Raheem Verily you are the most Forgiving,the Most Merciful.
