The Punjab government on Monday suspended Khanna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Harsh Kumar Bansal and dismissed Machhiwara station house officer (SHO) Manjit Singh, along with one constable and two Home Guards personnel, in connection with the Jamalpur killings. Brothers Harinder Singh and Jatinder Singh were allegedly shot dead by the police in Jamalpur locality of Ludhiana on September 27. Constable Yadwinder Singh and Punjab Home Guards personnel Ajit Singh and Baldev Singh have been dismissed from service under Article 311(2) of the Constitution. The decision was taken by deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal after discussing the matter with Punjab director general of police (DGP) Sumedh Singh Saini.
