The Puritans won, for now. LAs e-cigarette ban just took effect. Now people can be fined $250 for vaping anywhere standard combustion cigarettes are banned. Which is patently absurd. There are no carcinogenic chemicals. The vapor is the same exact propylene glycol and vegetable glycol used to create stage fog at concerts and public events. The indoor toxic emissions from carpets and vinyl chairs are far more potent than anything coming from an e cigarette. And that leaves aside the ubiquitous car exhaust we are all forced to breathe for hours a day during our commute... This ban has never been about science or public health. It is about busybodies, image, and social control. Shame on the supposedly progressive LA City Council.
