The Putnam Public Service District tweeted photos of clusters of disposable wipes that had recently clogged a grinder station — a piece of equipment that grinds sewage down into finer particles that flow through the sewer pipes more easily. Since the wipes don’t dissolve in water, they can become entangled in the machinery and cause portions of it to burn out, potentially costing thousands of dollars to replace or repair.
