The Quantum Economist: Rep. Joe Barton, (R-Of Course), deceitfully - TopicsExpress

The Quantum Economist: Rep. Joe Barton, (R-Of Course), deceitfully claims that the Affordable Care Act computer system puts its users sensitive personal health care information at risk. The Texas lawmaker brandishes a shred of deactivated source code in the Affordable Care Act computer system that would have required health insurance applicants to waive their privacy rights. But, the Affordable Care Act doesnt ask applicants for that information. Thats why that section of the source code was deactivated. Barton was brandishing what amounted to a prepublication draft of the system, that showed the sections of a boilerplate privacy notice which had been taken out. Pre-existing conditions no longer are a pretext for denying health insurance, under existing law, because of the Affordable Care Act. No thanks to Rep. Joe Barton (R-Texas) for that long overdue reform. That benefit of the Affordable Care Act, which already has started, put to a stop one of the most cynical and sinister practices of the private, for-profit health insurance industry; which they exploited to boost their profits enormously. Joe Bartons faux outrage over this manufactured problem resonates with GOP tactics on other issues: use false or distorted facts to start hysterical freakouts amplified by the extremist echo chamber. The lie travels twice around the world while the truth boots up its PC. Have you seen ads from United Health Care & Aetnas health insurance company seeking to recruit you as a customer, recently? Dont sign up until you can see how the policies they are offering compare to others on offer via the Affordable Care Act marketplaces.
