The Queens, New York, chef walked away from Brooklyn Federal Court $510,000 richer Wednesday after a jury awarded him the hefty settlement for breaking his ankle during a shoplifting arrest in May 2011. Jarman, 50, claims police ridiculed him for falling down shortly after being cuffed for stealing a bag of shrimp (yes, you read that correctly) from a Pathmark supermarket. When I fell, they had a big laugh at my expense, Jarman told New Yorks Daily News after the verdict. They were laughing out loud and they demeaned me.
