The Question of whether ice is an effective strategy in minimizing, or controlling the extent of damage caused to soft tissue upon trauma has been a topic of conversation I have encountered....well, ALOT lately, and one that is flowing on from the debate of whether or not RICE is an appropriate strategy to recovery management of trauma, or as a management tool in situations where trauma may have occurred. RICE (Rest Ice Compression and Elevation) IS hard to achieve in horses, and inappropriate...but how far should be go when throwing away aspects of RICE.....is ICE also inappropriate? And when Should it be used? Vodcast #2 of the RESET Equine series touches on just this topic...
