The RAR (Rocker Arm Chair - Wire Base) by Charles and Ray Eames - TopicsExpress

The RAR (Rocker Arm Chair - Wire Base) by Charles and Ray Eames was initially offered as a retail item in 1950. In 1955, Herman Miller founder D.J. De Pree decided the rocker would be an ideal gift for each baby born into the family of an employee. Employees were offered the chair or a $100 savings bond. Over 90% chose the chair. De Pree gave a personalized letter with each chair, and a small plaque attached to the underside indicated the name of the baby and date of birth. After 1968, the RAR was expressly made for this purpose. Today, the new child rocker program is alive and well—and there are more RAR options available than ever before to non-Herman Miller babies everywhere! ow.ly/wfcPZ
