The RAW Rev Up For 7/29/13 It’s Monday Afternoon And You Know What That Means – It’s Time To Prepare For The Latest Installment Of WWE Monday Night RAW. And As Always, No One Gets You The Info You Need, And The Hype You Love, To Get Revved Up For RAW. Last Week We Saw WWE Champion John Cena & Daniel Bryan Sign Their Title Contract, CM Punk & Paul Heyman Continue Their MIC Mastery, RVD & Cody Rhodes Put On PPV Quality Matches, & The Goat-Faced Killer Put On A 30+ Minute Wrestling Clinic That Is One Of RAW’s Finest Performances In The Show’s History. So Where Does That Leave Us Heading Into Tonight? Let’s Dive Into The Rev Up & Find Out. We Have To Start With The Fallout That Ended Last Week’s Episode, As It Has Major Implications For Tonight’s RAW. John Cena Challenged Ryback To A Tables Match, & RAW GM Brad Maddox Has Since Booked That for Tonight’s Show. We Also Found Out That Kane Would Be Returning For The First Time Since Being Attacked By The Wyatt Family To Face The WWE #1 Contender Daniel Bryan In A Fight Between The Former Tag Champ Partners. Will The Wyatt Family Get Involved? If So, Do They Simply Focus On Kane, Or Do They Insert Themselves Into Daniel Bryan’s Business So Close To The Biggest Match In The Career Of The Feared Beard? That Alone Could Be The Most Intriguing Aspect As RAW Progresses. Is Kane Brainwashed By The Wyatt Cult-Like Propaganda, Is This All Building Up To Kane Costing Bryan The Belt At SummerSlam? Or Helping Him Win It Somehow? The Possibilities Are Exciting, And I Hope To See Bray & His Giants Get Involved One Way Or Another. The Table’s Match Against Ryback May Be Solid, But Anyone Who Watched The Payback PPV Saw This Match A Month Ago, & It Wasn’t Particularly Great Then, Hence The Luke Warm Reaction From The Crowd Upon The Challenge From The Champ. Look For Cena To Win, Or The Whole Match To Break Down, As Cena Needs Some Momentum Heading Into Slam. Daniel Bryan Is The Hottest Guy In All Of Pro Wrestling Right Now, And SuperCena Coming To Bryan’s Rescue & Challenging The ‘Bully’ Ryback Who Hurt Him Is A Weak Attempt By WWE To Help Cena Get Support. If You Watch & Listen To WWE Live Audiences Week In And Week Out, The Cena Chants Are Dying, And The Bryan Reaction Is Explosive. The WWE Needs To Try And Make It’s Champion Look Strong And Equally Popular, But The Truth Is Right Now He Is Not. Not Even Close, Really. Interesting To See How WWE Handles This Match, But I Would Guess Cena Will Overcome Some Sort Of Obstacle, Like Interference Or A Particularly Blood Thirsty Ryback, And Still ‘Somehow’ Pull Out The Win. Shocking, I Know. Look For Dolph Ziggler To Continue His Program With AJ/Big E As Well. It’s Funny Isn’t It? CM Punk VS Brock Feels More Like Punk VS Heyman With Brock Acting As The Monster In Between Them. But Isn’t That The Exact Story With This Ziggler Feud As Well? Big E Apparently Has A Crush On AJ (Who Doesn’t), And This Has Led To Him Defending Her Honor Against The Show Off. The Rivalry Feels Like It’s Dolph VS AJ, With Langston Sort Of Bodyguarding His Way Into A Big Time Feud. It Works Because AJ & Dolph Have Terrific Chemistry, But Big E Is Sort Of The 3rd Wheel Here. Look For The Former NXT Champion Langston To Get The Upper Hand Tonight To Not Appear Weak, And To Counterbalance The Hilarious Set Dolph Delivered On The MIC This Friday On SmackDown. Also, Is There A Kaitlyn/Dolph Union In The Works? Although I Think Ziggler Would Be Better Served Alone, Only Time Will Tell. There Is Also Reason To Be Optimistic From A Strictly Wrestling Fan Stand Point Tonight, As The WWE Has Already Announced A Solid Night Of Booking. We Already Discussed The Cena/Ryback Tables Match, & Of Course Daniel Bryan Squaring Off Against Kane. In Addition To That We’ll Also See AJ Lee Continue Her Rivalry With Kaitlyn In A Match Tonight, World Heavyweight Champion Alberto Del Rio Will Have His Hands Full When He Takes On Christian Tonight, And Mr. Monday Night Rob Van Dam Will Be Taking On Fandango In A Match That Could Steal The Show. No, I’m Serious. RVD Is As Popular As Ever, And Say What You Will About The Character Of Fandango, But Johnny Curtis Is The Real Deal In The Ring. Look For This To Be A Surprisingly Strong Contest. There Are Many Questions To Be Answered Tonight As Well. Antonio Cesaro Had The Match Of His WWE Career Last Week Against Bryan, And Looked As ‘Real Deal’ As It Gets, Despite What Vince May Think. Will He Be Rewarded For His Strong Showing? Will He Finally Get The Legitimate Shot At A Big Time Program He Appeared To Be On Track To Get When He First Won The US Title? There Are A Lot Of Fans Who Are Very Impressed With Cesaro, Including Myslef, And Hope To See Him Get More & More Opportunities In The Main Event Scene. Alberto Del Rio Is The World Heavyweight Champion And Still Without A Consistent Feud For SummerSlam. Look For Whoever His Challenger Will Be To Emerge And Begin A Program With The Mexican Superstar. That Belt Is Too Important And Del Rio Is Too Strong A Performer To Sit Out SummerSlam, & Time Is Running Out For A Challenger To Step Up. Will It Be RVD Who Wants A Piece Of Del Rio After The ‘Cheap Kick’ On Last Week’s SmackDown? Will Cody Rhodes Try To Earn Himself A Shot At The WHC In Order To ‘One Up’ Former Best Friend Damien Sandow? Or Perhaps An Unexpected Challenger Emerges? I Expect Something WHC Related To Go Down Tonight, If Not It Will Be Difficult To Book A Feud That Feels Like It Actually Means Something In Only A Week Or So. Mark Henry Appears To Be A Face Again, As He Has Been Tagging With The Popular Face Tag Team The USO’s And Having Issues With The ‘Heel’ (But Are They?) Hounds Of Justice, The Shield. Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins Have Taken On The USO’s A Lot Lately, And I Would Be Surprised To See A Straight Tag Title Match In The Works For SummerSlam. With US Champion Dean Ambrose Left Without A True Rival For His US Title (What Else Is New), Look For A Possible 6 Man Tag Match At Slam With Some Sort Of Stipulation. Perhaps Henry/USO’s VS Shield With Both Titles On The Line? If Ambrose Loses The Man Who Pins Him Becomes US Champ, If It’s Rollins Or Reigns Pinned The Tag Titles Change Hands? Maybe? I Expect If Belts Are On The Line For The Shield To Win, But If Not, Look For Mark Henry To Have A Strong (Pun Intended) Showing, & Come Out On Top. And Speaking Of Giants, Can We Finally Expect To See The Big Show This Week After His Knee Was Not Healthy Enough For Him To Go Last Week Despite Being Hyped To Return? That Comeback Could Be Looming Over RAW All Night, And Like Him Or Not The Big Show Does Add A One Of A Kind Dimension To Any Feud. Finally, I Am Still Very Curious If WWE Is Going To Throw Us A Curveball In This Whole Cena/Bryan Match For The Title At SummerSlam. Will WWE Break It’s Own Tradition And Simply Have Two ‘Good Guys’ Face Each Other For The Belt? When Was The Last Time We Saw That? CM Punk & Cena After The Pipe Bomb Comes To Mind, But Punk Was Booked More As An Anti-Hero, & Cena Was Certainly Supposed To Be His Same Old ‘Hustle, Loyalty, Respect, Take On All Comers’ Self. Punk Was The Peoples Choice In That Feud, And As Hard As It Is To Believe, Daniel Bryan Enters SummerSlam With The Same Momentum & Crowd Support. Will WWE Try To Protect Cena And Make Bryan The Heel When All Is Said And Done? Will The WWE Fans Finally Get What They May Believe Is Impossible Now And See Cena Turn Heel? It’s Unlikely, But WWE Has Usually Stayed Clear Of Two Faces Just Finding Out Who The Best Man Is. That Alone May Be The Most Intriguing Dynamic To RAW Tonight. But The Question Is, Can WWE Do Anything Right Now To Make Daniel Bryan The ‘Heel’? The Booed, Hated Bad Guy Fans Can’t Wait To See Get Hurt And Lose? Probably Not. In Fact, I’ll Say It, NO NO NO! They Can’t. Bryan Is A Freight Train Of Momentum And Support Right Now, And With Cena Losing His Audience More And More Each Month, It Is Obvious Who The Fans Are Behind. It Is Inarguable That John Cena Is Vince McMahon’s Golden Boy, But Perhaps That’s Not The Case With Triple H. As Hunter Gains More And More Authority & Influence, Look For New Competitors To Be Given The Shot To Rise Up The Ranks, Starting With The Feared Beard. With Fewer And Fewer RAW’s Until SummerSlam, Look For The Action & The Personal Side Of This Match To Escalate Tonight. This Is The Main Event Of The Second Biggest Show Of The Year We’re Talking About Here, And It’s Night Like Tonight Where New And Exciting Aspects Of The Match Start To Develop. With A Solid Night Of Booking Already, And The Surprises That We Have Come To Count On As Fans, Tonight’s Episode Of Monday Night RAW Should Be Can’t-Miss. The Road To SummerSlam Has Begun, And Look For Tonight’s 3-Hour Specatacle To Make That Road A Super Highway. Will You Be Sorry If You Don’t Catch The Action Tonight On RAW? YES YES YES! -Jason Moltov
