The RTA mourns the loss of a beloved national icon, Maya Angelou. She inspired many and was truly a “Phenomenal Woman”. Little did the world know that she was a member of our nation’s transportation family. It all started at the age of 16 as the first female African American street car conductor in #SanFrancisco. She wrote about her street car experiences in her book, “Mom & Me & Mom,” and it was also mentioned in an interview with her dearest friend Oprah Winfrey.
