The Rail Minister just promised in House of Commons to meet with me to discuss future of northbound services from Corby. The problem is that the line electrification plan stops at Corby which will likely mean no more northbound when trains switch from diesel. I will be pressing for electrification to continue north or for other options, such as maintaining an onward diesel service, be considered. I will also be asking for: a commitment that we will get new electric trains, not secondhand ones; using the new agreed sixth train an hour into St Pancras to increase Corby services when the decision is taken about where on the midland line it will run; and action to reduce the outrageously high fares, particularly at peak times. It could be a long meeting
