The Raise and Trembling Of Saffron - Never expected such a decision from Honourable Ex-Deputy Prime Minister of India, Mr. L K Advani! I recollect the Kurukshethra episode of Mahabharatha, both Bheeshma and Karna were significant personalities with equivalent skills. At the beginning of the war, Bheeshma did not agreed to lead the Kaurava army, if Karna involve in the war. Then Karna declared that he will not enter the battle field until Bheeshma put his bow and arrows down. Bheeshma was the strongest barrier for 10 days (out of 18 days war) that had protected the Kaurava camp from impending defeat. Though Karna was young/dynamic/able, he defended Kauravas for just 2 days. Mr. Lal Advani, still he is the favourite leader within the party than any other leader in BJP. Moreover, ‘Advani’ is the only National name at the moment (after Indira/Rajiv/Sonia/Rahul Gandhi names) which is familiar in rural India – which can compete for the Prime-ministerial post. People who are active on social websites/internet/Media, will just praise Mr. Modi – but these people will never go to Polling station to vote or most of them does not have vote. So their comments can be ignored. If Advani quits for sure, then Karnataka situation can be repeated again in 2014 general elections. Though BJP has completed 33 years, I am not thinking as it is close to retirement age (34 years) by next year. Gujraat still needs Hon. Chief Minister Modi, one day he might get a chance to contest for PM. Probably he will be better candidate from BJP for 2019 term. BK, 10-06-2013.
