The Ralph Diaries~ FEBRUARY 18 1967- San Antonio- Saturday- Watched some guys ride go-carts and motorcycles at the school. We made some water balloons and had a fight with them. Went with Mike and David to the Sul Ross Valentine dance. The Misfits and The Shaggs played. They got mad at each other over playing time. Both were great. Danced with Patty and Doris. 1968- San Antonio- Sunday- Walked to 11:45 mass, at St. Andrews, with Jimmy. Cleaned the girls room, got paid 50 cents. Dad called from Chicago. Talked to Mike Fischer on phone. Gave Blackie a bath. 1969- Chicago-Tuesday- Klaus drove me to school. I took the handlebars off my motorbike, worked on it for a while. Worked at KMart Foods, 5-10:30. Gave Jeff Bles a ride home, we saw a wreck. 1971- Lubbock- Thursday- Went to school, Monterey. Saw an Assembly show. Felt really bad when I got home. Called Mom, then called in sick at work. 1973- Lubbock- Sunday- Went by parents house. Worked at Piggly Wiggly, 1-6 PM. I have a date next Wednesday with Sara Dulin. Mike Vinson and I wrote a song about her called Sara Dulin, You Got Me Droolin. Cristi Couch fixed me up with her. 1974- Lubbock- Monday- Went to classes at Tech, had an Economics exam. Drove cab tonight. 1976- Lubbock- Wednesday- Went to classes at Tech. Picked up my photos at Fox Photo, cost $5.57. 1983- Lubbock- Friday- Worked at University store. Went to Fat Dawgs to see The Juke Jumpers. 1984- Lubbock- Saturday- Worked at University store. Tonight, went to Fat Dawgs to see Vince Vance & The Valiants. Theyre always great! 1985- Lubbock- Monday- Worked at University store. Tanned at The Islands at 4:00. 1986- Lubbock- Tuesday- Worked at University store. Tonight, Rob Weiner and I went to Main St. Saloon to see Black Flag and some other SST bands. Greg Ginn played in all of them. Pretty wild show! Before the show, Rob and I were walking around the neighborhood and bumped into Henry Rollins. He just grunted at us. 1987- Lubbock- Wednesday- Worked at University store. Roomful of Blues in town tonight. 1989- Lubbock- Saturday- Bill and Susan Alston got married today. (note: They are a couple of our best friends and we cant remember why we didnt go to their wedding. Weird...) 1993- Amarillo- Thursday- Worked at 82nd st. store. Tonight, Mike, Mel and I drove to Amarillo to see The Beach Boys play at the baseball field there. Great show! Afterwards, ate at Hooters. 1994- Lubbock- Friday- Worked at University store. Paid my state sales tax today. Lane and I promoted Kings-X tonight, at the Depot Warehouse. 1995- Lubbock- Saturday- Worked at 82nd st. store today. Had the guys over for boxing, pizza and beer. Bouts were: Bruno vs. Martin, Toney vs. Griffin, and DeLaHoya vs. Molina. 1997- Ransom Canyon- Tuesday- Worked at 82nd st. store. Hello, Dolly, with Carol Channing, in town tonight. I got Mike Vinsons parents good seats for it. He said they really enjoyed it. 2000- Lubbock- Friday- Worked at 82nd st. store. Jack Ingram at Country Live tonight, Rodney Carrington at the Auditorium. 2001- Lubbock- Sunday- Went to church, 11:00, then out to eat. Wesley Willis in town tonight. 2007- Lubbock- Sunday- Polly at an all-day workshop today. I got the kids up and we went to church. Then took them to McDonalds (their choice, of course). Took a nap, then went by the store to pay the promoter for Chris Daughtry tickets. Took Max for a walk and found a wallet in the street. Called the guy and he said he would come by my store tomorrow and pick it up. Called Bill Alston and wished him a Happy Anniversary. Called Mom and Dad. 2009- Lubbock- Wednesday- Polly off work today. Had to go to work at 9:00AM to meet the Suddenlink crew, converting my store to all Suddenlink service (phones, internet, cable TV). ADT Security also came by, looked at my security entrance system. Polly and I went to lunch at Logans Steak House, used gift card Rodney gave us. Drove by rent house and warehouse, checked on them. Picked up Joey from baseball practice at Moegle Field. Steve Lindsey called, from Albuquerque, first time Ive heard from him in a while. 2010- Lubbock- Thursday- Had lunch with Michael Poindexter, at Jasons Deli. Saw Marty Smith and Ed Stephens there. Polly made turkey burgers tonight. Shes bound and determined to keep me alive.Two high school kids came by the store, took video and interviewed me for a project. 2011- Lubbock- Friday- Polly home from work today. Took her to lunch at Bangkok, then to a few estate sales, post office. Shes not feeling well, has walking pneumonia. Rodney came by the store, fixed a broken rack for me. Went to the warehouse, still no water out there and Ted is out of town. 2012- Lubbock- Saturday- Still nursing my cold. Stayed in all day, finished up my taxes. Now, to take them to my accountant on Monday! Polly picked up lunch from Bangkok (same as last year!). Alison texted us from Las Vegas, theyre having lotsa fun. We watched Trespass with Nicolas Cage and Nicole Kidman, on DVD. It was OK, nothing special. You kinda had the feeling youd seen it before, even if you hadnt. Went by the store, did the books. They did great today! Everyone emailing me about 2006 Navigator problems. I googled 2003 Expeditions (what I have now) and lots of problems came up, too. I havent had many problems with mine, so guess every vehicle has issues. 2013- Ransom Canyon- Monday- Worked out. Actually ate lunch at home, leftovers from last night. Went by the old house, took back all of our framed pictures that Polly rejected for the new house. Rodney and Mark were there. Rodney took apart some of my basement shelves that I will take to the new house. Looks like there was a little water damage down there from years ago. He also hung our huge Southwest pictures back on the fireplace, for our sale. Went to work, stayed late. Jeff Nicholson came by. 20154- Ransom Canyon- Tuesday- Talked to Fischer on the phone. Also, called Tim, about our Leakey visit tomorrow. Texted sister, Mary, who is also coming to Leakey. Made bank deposit, paid bills at post office. Had lunch at Lite Bite. Then went to work.Getting things ready, so I can leave tomorrow, for Leakey. Talked to Hope Griffith, in Floydada. She was a big singer around here, in the 50s.
